Feature Idea: Allow _Admin pages be created in VS 2010

Mar 24, 2010 at 11:05 AM
I'd want to create _admin pages, and I can't find anything in VS 2010 to do that. VS 2010 allows Application Pages only, and they get created in Layouts folder with LayoutsPageBase class instead. Creating a _admin page seems stone-age effort by VS 2010 standards. --Sharad

Thanks for your input Sharad.

Sharad, you can add a Mapped Folder to *ANY* location in the SharePoint Root (hive).  In a VS2010 SP project, right click on the project node in Solution Explorer, select Add -->  SharePoint Mapped Folder...  In the dialog that appears navigate to TEMPLATE/ADMIN an then click OK to create a Mapped Folder to the ADMIN folder where admin pages need to go.

Hope this helps,

I think the issue is that when you then add an application page it will automatically be moved to the LAYOUTS folder.
