The SPIs are not yet available, there were significant alterations in the VS stuff which has made them harder to directly port. They're currently in progress and some will appear in the next release.

The add reference tab is no longer needed as the VS dialog includes a brilliant search which will pull in all the SP dll's very quickly.

Finally the v1.1 should have the Create Page Layout menu item if the content type is a page type.

Using v1.1 and I cannot see any SPIs (VS2012 Ultimate, SP2010 server) nor the SharePoint Tab in Add Reference manager dialogue, nor Create Page Layout from a content type in Server Explorer. Can you please reply and confirm exactly what we should or should not be seeing and how to rectify things if they are not present. Thanks.

Visit the http://visualstudiogallery.msdn.microsoft.com/cf1225b4-aa83-4282-b4c6-34feec8fc5ec page, click download to get the VSIX to your machine. Copy that to the machine you need and simply double click it to install to VS2012.

they just haven't made the porting yet mate.

As you can imagine with over 4 years worth of coding in CKSDev there is a lot of work to update, tidy and refactor.

We are frequently using the deployment configuration "Upgrade solution" in the old version of CKS:DEV. Now in the new version all of the CKS:DEV deployment configurations seem to be gone. Are they intentionally deprecated or can we expect to see them again in future updates?

I just installed vs2012 on my sharepoint 2010 machine and upgraded vs2012 to 'Update 2'. I installed the CKSDev tools for 2012 but dont see any CKS items when i click add--> new Item..

Hi,

This feature is no longer appropriate for vs2012 as the native add reference dialog is far more powerful and includes a dynamic search. Simply type SharePoint for example and it finds all the common dlls.

I'm trying to add SP2013 references to my project and with CKS installed I do not see any options for SharePoint assemblies like I did for VS2010.

This was the best part of CKS! Please tell me I'm missing something!

Hi,
I have an existing project which has built using CKS:Dev VS2010 version but running in VS2010. I installed the VS2012 version and uninstalled the VS2010 version but the project cannot load the SPIs.

For the timbeing I have reinstalled VS2010 version is there a plan or way to migrate these SPIs over to the new VS2012 version?

CKSDev for VS2012 (http://visualstudiogallery.msdn.microsoft.com/cf1225b4-aa83-4282-b4c6-34feec8fc5ec) doesn't yet provide the item templates and is the only fully supported version of CKSDev for VS2012. The manifest changed behind the scenes which now breaks the v2.4 versions from sp2010 versions. I would suggest using VS2010 and CKSDev v2.4 if you are only building sp2010 web templates. You could then import those into VS2012 as an interim workaround.

The templates will be part of the new versions once the deployment steps are included.

The current project I'm working is using SharePoint 2013. The original project was estimated based on SharePoint 2010 but later we decided to use SharePoint 2013. And after completing half of the project we've found the time it's taking to develop the project with SharePoint 2013 more time than what estimated for SharePoint 2010. I would like to say mostly the reason is tools not available (VS tools, workflow debugging tools etc.). One of the tools that helps improve developer's productivity is CKSDev and it's not available yet. Still waiting for the release for SharePoint 2013....

Firstly thanks for the efforts on the 2010 version, the time saved in dev was massively appreciated.

Re the 2013 version, update would be great on how this is progressing, or a beta release would be a godsend.
