SharePoint 2013 in 2010 Mode

Sep 16, 2013 at 11:45 PM
Hi all,

Our investigations seem to show that the CKS dev tools for SharePoint 2013 always deploy solutions to SharePoint in 2013 mode (CompatibilityLevel = 15).

Is there a way to deploy solutions to SharePoint 2013 in 2010 mode (compatibility level = 14) using CKS dev tools? Or to deploy in both modes (Compatibility Level = All)?

Thanks,
Daniel

Hi Daniel,

Sorry I'm not really familiar with what you are explaining?

I'd be happy to consider adding the logic you need, but you will need to help guide me though your scenario.

Could you explain further?

Cheers,

Wes

Hi,
That would be a nice addition to the tool.

When you upgrade a SharePoint 2010 solution to SharePoint 2013 thanks to VS 2013 you cannot deploy it anymore on a Site Collection in "SP 2010 Experience" (actually the deployment works but the features are not available).

You need to use the CompatibilityLevel flag when installing the WSP with Install-SPSolution cmdlet to deploy in the 14 and 15 folders.

http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ff607534%28v=office.15%29.aspx

Ex : Install-SPSolution -Identity my_solution.wsp -GACDeployment -CompatibilityLevel {14,15}

That would be great to have this option in CKS Dev. At the moment we are using a custom Post-Script Deployment in our team to achieve this.

Thanks,

Ben
